The Havelock North “Village” is located less than 2 km to the South East of the Districts larger urban centre Hastings founded in 1875. Havelock North itself is primarily residential and Rural-Residential housing, with only a relatively small and compact industrial and commercial centre. Te Mata Peak is located on the south side of Havelock North and is the highest peak in the area at 399m. It offers fabulous views over the Heretaunga Plains and Hawke’s Bay; on a clear day, the view stretches as far as Mount Ruapahu and Mahia Peninsula.
